CranioMassage has the capacity to calm the nervous system and invigorate the immune system, creating the perfect union for healing anything form long term illness to every-day stress.
This is a juicy combination of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, the very subtle alignment of the whole body’s structures, and Massage Therapy. Together they create a fully relaxing and deeply nurturing bodywork modality (Yummy!).
Who Can Benefit?
People who need a deep “power nap” or just “cat nap”.
I enjoy working with athletes, elderly, children, infants, and pre and post natal mothers. I have a passion for working with people surviving terminal illnesses and recovering form traumatic injuries.
What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy?
The term “Biodynamic” is used to describe a wholistic understanding of living systems.
There are two main differences that separate Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) and any other types of Craniosacral Therapy:
1) The extensive training period
2) The relationship established with the client
Other types have as little as 50hrs maximum of training, and are more “mechanistic” (doing something to the client based on what the practitioner’s mind thinks they should do) in their approach like chiropractic medicine.
Whereas with BCST the student will spend 3 years and has over 700 hrs of training. So the practitioner has the essential tools needed to be able to listen to and follow what the client’s body wants, their “Inherent Treatment Plan”.
When a synergistic connection has been made between a skilled BCST practitioner and a client, deep relaxation occurs.
The Central Nervous System (CNS) shifts to its long-awaited sense of calm and peacefulness, resting in stillness. In this Stillness the Parasympathetic Nervous System (the relaxation response) and the Immune System (maintains health) are activated so that anything from digesting to healing can actually happen.
Recipients of this work have also reported improvement with a wide range of maladies from headaches, insomnia, and TMJ disorders, to most brain chemistry disorders, acute and chronic injuries, and many illnesses. For the aging it can help them resolve and integrate and unfinished experiences.
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
All types of Craniosacral Therapy (CST) involve a light, steady touch on the body with the main focus on the head and sacrum, and the secondary focus on the rest of the body.
CST was developed by an osteopath, William Sutherland. He found that there are in fact minor movements of the plate-like bones of the skull, and that postural distortions of these bones and the spine can create significant pressure in the fluid system that surrounds the brain and spinal cord, and that leaks out the spinal nerve sleeves to the rest of the body.
This pressure may cause chronic pain, scoliosis, motor coordination problems, and other malfunctions of the Central Nervous System (CNS).
Skilled practitioners of CST are trained to notice a certain biological and energetic fluctuation that occurs along the midline of the body, and to apply gentle pressure to the head, spine, and rest of the body to affect restrictions that may compromise the healthy functions of the CNS and other functional systems.
